Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American actor, singer, and model. She was the main female performer for Apollonia 6 and co-starred in Prince's film Purple Rain from 1984. Apollonia is a singer/actress who was who was christened by Prince in 1984 became one of the female artists of the 1980s who benefited from Prince. She was born Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959, her work began as a model and actress in the late '70s including an appearance on the television show CHiPS. In 1984, the actress was cast as the leading lady in Prince's Purple Rain. (During this time period, she changed her name.) Then she was replaced by Vanity of the female group Vanity 6 who performed in the film with Apollonia 6 under their name. Sex Shooter was only a small achievement for the group however, she had an even bigger influence as Prince's duet partner with Take Me with You on the soundtrack. Kotero's association with Prince came to an end when the duo disagreed on her future career path. Apollonia 6, the group that she belonged to was ended up splitting. The actress appeared in several tiny films, such as the sequel to Purple Rain Under the Cherry Moon (which she declined), and then landed the role of Falcon Crest on the Night-Time drama Falcon Crest from 1985-1986. Apollonia's debut album was released in 1988. But the R&B/dance tracks were not well received by those who bought music. They soon ceased to exist. Throughout the decade that followed, she remained an active actress, playing minor roles in films as well as small television shows. Apollonia published a Spanish/English CD entitled Stay with me in 1997. The singer returned to the university and received a degree in making films. Then she founded her business and was employed on children's television. Apollonia wears multiple hats. A former model, actress and singer as well as manager of talent.
